Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A Block Development Officer (BDO) in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district filed a police complaint against his wife who eloped with her brother-in-law along with the cash, jewellery and other valuables.
The BDO, identified as Mohammad Abid Hussain who took charge of Nanpur Block last month, also told the police that he was threatened by his wife when she left the house. When Hussain reached home after completing his duty on August 5, his wife announced in front of his family members that she is in love with Mohammad Nizam and wants to stay with him for the rest of her life.
The BDO was shocked by his wife’s announcement and before he could do anything, she left his house with Rs 6 lakh cash, gold jewellery and other valuables.
Before moving out of the house, the woman threatened the BDO saying that she will file a police complaint against him for harassing her for dowry. “I will thrash you with the sticks and file a police complaint against you. You will be lodged in jail,” the BDO quoted his wife as saying.
The case has been filed against BDO’s wife and her lover Mohammad Nazim, who is a resident of Vaishali, under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the probe is currently underway.
The incident, which recently surfaced on social media, is being widely circulated on several microblogging sites. Also, the BDO has become the talking point in several villages of Bihar.
